I’m sorry but I think I will just have to save the rest of my Nepal trip for another day – today I’m going to catch you all up with what we’ve been doing with my mother and brother. The last two days we have been in Dubai. We started off the journey from Al Ain to Dubai with a detour through the desert:

DSCN3679After arriving in the Dubai the first thing we did was head over to the Mall of the Emirates to show them the indoor ski slope:

DSCN3684Since it was such a nice day outside and my mom and brother get enough snow back home, we were off again to the outdoor/indoor Madinat Jumeirah Souk:

By now it was getting close to sunset so we decided to head to the Jumeirah Beach Hotel and go to its 360 degree bar.

DSCN3756After watching the sun disappear we checked into our hotel, grabbed some dinner, and then headed off to Global Village for some late night bartering, buying, and fun!

DSCN3766The Global Village has markets, shops, and food stands from all around the world. It is open until midnight and we stayed out right until it closed! But we didn’t leave before mom got some ice cream – little did she know that she was getting the famous Turkish ice cream. The man who serves the ice cream does all kinds of tricks and plays all kinds of jokes on the buyer – like pretending to drop the ice cream, pulling it away from you, giving you an empty cone, etc. It’s really funny.

DSCN3767The next morning  we stopped at the IHOP in Dubai for some breakfast!

Feeling very full we thought an afternoon on the beach would be the perfect remedy!

DSCN3783DSCN3786DSCN3791DSCN3795Its a great beach for collecting sea shells!

It was a great day for wind surfing!

After the beach we decided to take a drive on the famous Palm islands! The villas and hotels were gorgeous.

We then drove along the east side of the Palm Islands and got some great views of the city.

DSCN3816DSCN3809DSCN3822DSCN3824It was then off to see the Burj Khalifa up close and watch the fountain show!

DSCN3853Since mom and Austin loved Global Village so much we went back there again before heading home. We had some coffee in Ethiopia:

DSCN3856We again stayed until midnight when Global Village closes and did not get home until around 1:30 in the morning. Right now everyone is quietly sleeping after this eventful trip to Dubai – I think I will join them and get some shut eye myself! Goodnight!
